(Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Quebec) Saturday April 16 -  Tournaments like the Dodge Cup require many volunteers to keep things running smoothly and 81-year-old Gwen Kelly is one of the volunteers helping out at one of the host arenas; the Dollard-des-Ormeaux Civic Center.

Kelly started volunteering when her son was 6-years-old, and 47 years later, she's still around to lend a helping hand. Though her kids and their sports are what started it all for Kelly, it's the joy she gets out of it that's led her to stick with it all these years.

"I enjoy it, I love it, and I do it for the kids," said Kelly.

Gwen Kelly has volunteered in schools, with the Beckett Players (a charitable foundation), and even with Dollard's public skating during the winter. She has been volunteering with Dollard hockey for 15 years now and was a volunteer the last time Dollard hosted The Dodge Cup back in 2009. Kelly is there from start to finish of each day of the tournament, lending a helping hand in whatever task she's given.

Not only does she provide her own time to help out at the tournament; Kelly has also been involved in getting kids to come out and volunteer. Students who know her involvement with Dollard Hockey have even contacted her about volunteering. Kelly has a few students who have even been helping out in this year’s Dodge Cup.

This is one volunteer who doesn't mind putting in the long hours because it brings her great joy to make kids happy.

“I love making kids happy, keeping them occupied, and out of trouble,” said Kelly.
